ROXANNA TRINKA TO LEAD PALM BEACH AMENDMENT BATTLE

(ORLANDO, FL – November 6, 2007) Floridians for Smarter Growth (FSG) today announced Palm Beach business owner and community leader Roxanna Trinka will lead the fight against the so-called Hometown Democracy amendment as the group’s General Chairperson for Palm Beach County. Ms. Trinka joins a growing coalition of local leaders recently announced by FSG.

“We are thrilled to have Roxanna leading our campaign in Palm Beach County,” said Mark Wilson, FSG Treasurer and Florida Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President. “The residents of Palm Beach know Roxanna as a dedicated charity activist and successful business owner in their community.”

“I’m looking forward to leading this effort,” Ms. Trinka said. “Hometown Democracy will have a devastating impact on our local economy and endanger our quality-of-life.”

“Voting on everything will not solve Florida’s growth-related challenges,” Ms. Trinka explained. “By turning a planning process into a political process, the amendment will encourage greater sprawl and deteriorating business conditions.”

Ms. Trinka is the President and CEO of Baseline Engineering & Land Surveying, Inc., a company she founded almost fifteen years ago. She has been a Trustee Member of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce since 1999 and previously served on the Board of Directors. Currently, she is the Chairman of the Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority and has been a Rotarian since 2001. She has been awarded for her business efforts many times including being named Palm Beach County Ultimate CEO of the Year, The Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Leader of the Year, and a 2004 and 2005 finalist for the South Florida Business Journal’s Business Woman CEO of the Year.

Ms. Trinka is also a charitable leader for many groups including PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership), an organization serving at risk youth with life skills programs, tutoring to complete their education, training them for a profession, and preparing them for careers with local businesses in the community. She also provides financial support to The Haven and Home Safe, both provide homes in Palm Beach County for abused and abandoned children. Ms. Trinka is also a supporter of the March of Dimes and Hospice by the Sea where she was care center volunteer.

Floridians for Smarter Growth was founded by Sunshine State community and business leaders to fight extreme special interests bound to destroy Florida's unique quality-of-life under the guise of the Hometown Democracy amendment.
