To strengthen philanthropy in Martin & St. Lucie Counties through professional development & ethical fundraising practices
National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) is a special day set aside to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy – and those people active in the philanthropic community – to the enrichment of our world. November 15 has been designated the permanent date. NPD provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of giving and all that it has made possible. First held in 1986, the event celebrates the endless daily contributions individuals, corporations and organizations across the world make to countless causes and missions. The event is coordinated by local chapters of AFP and held anytime in November. Through NPD, participants are able to show appreciation for all that has been accomplished in the name of giving, as well as show that there is still more to do. It’s a chance for AFP to step into the spotlight for a brief moment and remind our local communities, our society and the world, that the spirit of giving is alive and well.
Treasure Coast chapter held its first NPD event in 1995. We hold the event on the closest Friday to the 15th of November to honor those who have contributed to the betterment of the Martin and St Lucie County community through their contributions to the non-profit organizations in the area.
To honor as many donors and volunteers as possible, the Treasure Coast chapter has established the following nominating categories: Individual Philanthropist, Volunteer Fundraiser, Corporate Philanthropist, Small Business Philanthropist, Group Supporting Philanthropy, Unsung Hero, Youth in Philanthropy, and Youth Group in Philanthropy. The very prestigious President’s Award goes to the person or organization that receives the highest point value from the Judges panel.
