Small business group launches web message to members, press.
(Orlando, FL - May 6, 2010) The National Federation of Independent Business/Florida today announced its opposition to Amendment 4, a proposed amendment to Florida's constitution that would require taxpayer-funded referenda for any change to a local government comprehensive plan.
NFIB/FL Executive Director Bill Herrle issued a video message to members that can be viewed at

"Supporting Amendment 4 is like putting a torpedo in the Titanic just for good measure," Herrle said. "Growing Florida's small businesses is imperative for the full and swift economic recovery of our state. As Floridians work together to facilitate job creation and economic growth, the last thing we need is Amendment 4, a proposal which will raise taxes, kill jobs, and hurt working families."
NFIB/FL joins a coalition of more than 260 business, civic, labor and environmental organizations throughout the state which actively oppose Amendment 4.
"The Florida NFIB will be a leading voice in opposition to Amendment 4," said Ryan Houck, executive director of Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy (The "Vote No on 4" campaign). "The coalition to defeat this anti-jobs amendment grows daily. We're working closely with the members of that coalition - like NFIB - to take our message directly to the voters."
Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy (The "Vote No on 4" campaign) leads opposition to Amendment 4, coordinating a grassroots network of more than 30 campaign chairs and over 1300 volunteers. The campaign's statewide board of directors includes National League of Cities past president, Clarence Anthony, Florida Chamber of Commerce president, Mark Wilson, and Florida AFL-CIO executive committee member, Frank Ortis. To date, more than 260 organizations have opposed Amendment 4; more join the fight every day. For more information, please visit www.florida2010.org.
