(ORLANDO, FL - December 4, 2007) Floridians for Smarter Growth (FSG) today announced Sherry Bugnet, Business Development Coordinator for The Bailey Group, will lead the Flagler County fight against the so-called Hometown Democracy amendment.
"Having Sherry on our team will bring a great dynamic to our fight against Hometown Democracy," said Mark Wilson, FSG Treasurer and executive vice president of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. "As a young professional who is very involved in the Flagler County community, she will be able to use her flourishing leadership skills to further advance key FSG strategies."
"I am excited to serve as the FSG Chairperson for Flagler County," Mrs. Bugnet said. "I feel I bring a unique perspective to the table and will be able to bring our community together to defeat this extreme proposal."
"Hometown Democracy will hurt Florida's economy by holding costly elections funded by taxpayers bombarded by high price media campaigns," Mrs. Bugnet explained. "Unfortunately, this would require public funds to be diverted from vital government-run social programs. This would hurt Florida families of all socioeconomic backgrounds."
Mrs. Bugnet currently works for The Bailey Group, one of the largest insurance agencies in Northeast Florida. When she isn't working, Mrs. Bugnet oversees the Youth Group within her local church, serves as a member of the Rotary, and sits on the Board of the Flagler Habitat for Humanity. Mrs. Bugnet is also a proud graduate of Leadership Flagler and in May 2007 she was honored by the Jacksonville Business Journal as one of the 40 most promising young professionals in the area.
Floridians for Smarter Growth was founded by Sunshine State community and business leaders to fight extreme special interests bound to destroy Florida's unique quality-of-life under the guise of the Hometown Democracy amendment.
